For Level 1 correction, I inspect the paint and perform a test spot before using a single-stage machine polish to reduce eligible swirl marks, wash scratches, towel marks, and haze. I decontaminate the paint, check thickness where needed, polish and inspect each panel, and protect the finish. Heavy oxidation or defects that need additional stages are discussed before I begin.
Best for: Newer vehicles or well-maintained paint.

For Level 2 correction, I use a compounding step followed by a finishing polish to improve heavier swirl marks, deeper wash scratches, oxidation, and neglected paint. I inspect the paint throughout the process and stop where removing more material would be unsafe. Scratches through the clear coat may improve without disappearing completely.
Best for: Older vehicles or paint with visible swirl marks.
